Our students love us

It has made me braver to speak up when I see something unacceptable.

I don't like conflict and so in the past I usually kept my feelings to myself or discussed what had transpired with people whom I felt safe.

Since this class, I have spoken up multiple times when statements have been made by others which I believe are biased.

I have a better understanding of the perspectives and experiences of some of my colleagues. I think in the past I may have taken for granted the opportunities that have been presented to me in the workplace that others may not have had.

Going forward I hope to try to bring people up with me as opportunities arise and my influence over decision making grows.

I've learned there are ways of mitigating biases by using subtle and non-confrontational methods of communication.
